Digitone II harvest
FIZZ, the FM sequencer for the M-VAVE FM-1, can load Digitone II presets. A few of their settings can only be learned from a real Digitone II. This page asks yours, mostly by itself, in about 20 minutes, and makes a zip for you to send us. Thank you!
1. Before you start
- Use Chrome or Edge on a computer, with the Digitone II connected by USB.
- On the Digitone II, start a new, empty project. Pick a track (track 1 is fine) and give it an INIT FM TONE sound.
- Stop the sequencer, and make sure live recording is off. Otherwise every change would be recorded into the pattern.
- In SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG, let USB receive notes and CC/NRPN. Check which MIDI channel the track listens on (by default, track 1 is channel 1).
- To record the audio, the Digitone II's USB audio must reach the computer. Its USB audio input appears in the list below.
The wizard only changes that one track's sound and never saves anything. When it is done, load another project without saving, or reload this one.
2. Connect
3. What it will do
Exactly what it sends to the Digitone II:
4. Running
Leave the Digitone II alone while this runs, unless the wizard asks you to do something. If the cable comes out, plug it back in, choose the ports again, then Resume: nothing is lost.
5. Send it to us
Download the results Open the FIZZ Discord
Send this zip to the FIZZ Discord. It holds the Digitone II's answers, the short recordings and a log; nothing personal.
Now load another project on the Digitone II without saving, or reload this one: your track's sound goes back to what it was.
One more favour: three presets made by FIZZ
FIZZ can now write Digitone II presets. Please load these with Elektron Transfer into an empty preset slot, put each on a track, and tell us (with the zip): does it load, are its name and tags right, and does it sound like the description?
